Multi-spectral imaging session focusing on backscatter and attenuation based X-Ray imaging
IGERT-TEECH Trainees Samantha Stout and Tom Wypych organized a multi-spectral imaging session focusing on backscatter and attenuation based X-Ray imaging. Cory Singleton from Environmental Health and Safety guided the Certification process and properly trained the students and supervised us in conducting our practical. This training session not only exposed current researchers to safety information, but to the practical aspects of imaging. In the process, students identified new purposes of equipment originally used for other projects, and opened the possibilities for future work with the technologies. In addition to the graduate trainee cohort in attendance, the event was used as practical training and recruitment for undergraduate protégées, and Prof. Kuester’s Forensic Engineering class was also included in the first round of training in XRF imaging and safety training (in addition to subsequently joining trainees for thermal imaging and laser scanning training.
