IGERT experience pays off in the job market

Trainees from our first cohort are completing their dissertations and their IGERT experience appears to be paying off in the job market. Trainee R.J. Briggs (Economics) accepted a faculty position in Energy and Mineral Engineering at Penn State University. RJ cites the three engineering courses he took as an IGERT trainee and his IGERT research and internship experiences as critical to securing a faculty position in engineering. Trainee Michael Waring (Environmental Engineering) has accepted a faculty position in Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at Drexel University. Trainee Scot Waye (Mechanical Engineering) accepted a position in sustainable design services with CPP, Inc., in Colorado. Two of our IGERT affiliates (Chi Hoang and Donghyun Rim) recently completed their doctoral dissertations and will complete separate post-doctoral fellowships funded by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and directly related to their dissertation research.
