Achievement

The first wave of Earth Energy IGERT students passed from the mode of being students in the interdisciplinary suite of energy-related courses to focus on the most advanced steps of their disciplinary training and nearly full focus on research. These senior students continue to interact with one another and with the “younger” students in a weekly seminar (student presentations) as well as in informal activities. The weekly seminar is a very interactive gathering. The weekly student speaker gains experience preparing the presentation content to facilitate understanding by those who are outside of the discipline of the speaker, and the approximately 20 person audience displays comfort and interest in asking and answering questions across disciplinary lines.
