Perceptions of aging among Taiwanese students
Pam Allen is a trainee in the psychosocial core who entered the IGERT program with experience in collaborative international research. She is in the process of analyzing data gathered in Taiwan concerning perceptions of older adults and aging among undergraduate Taiwanese students. Building on this research, she proposed collection of comparative data among older Taiwanese and U.S. adults in an application submitted to the NSF East Asia and Pacific Summer Institute (EAPSI). She has been accepted into EAPSI which will allow her further global experience. She will identify “domain specific differences in attitudes toward aging held by older adults in Taipei and older adults in the US” with and intent to “ inform the viability of the basic aim of globalized gerontology”.
