Module discusses bio-based novel materials

A sustainable future is ultimately for humanity. Thus novel materials must be designed and developed with a proper interface with life and its surroundings. Due to billion years of evolution, materials from biology have natural interfaces and intricate relationships with both human and the environment, which has recently provided both inspirations and building blocks for creating novel materials for the sustainable future. Prof. Dan Luo presented a module focused on the use of four essential types of biomolecules to construct a variety of materials, from design to synthesis to characterization. Case studies were used to demonstrate real-world applications of these bio-based novel materials and their impact on a sustainable future.
