Program hosts undergraduate interns
For the third summer in a row our IGERT program has hosted four undergraduate interns from Indiana University Northwest in Gary, Indiana, approximately 80% of whose students come from groups underrepresented in science. Although NSF funds are not used to support this program, the students spend six weeks in the lab of an IGERT faculty member, interacting with IGERT graduate students, and learning about research and graduate school. In addition, the IGERT program coordinator meets weekly with these interns, and we arrange visits to various research labs based on their interests as well as a meeting with the Director of Graduate Admissions in Psychological and Brain Sciences.
