Smart Growth policy and septic systems
The 2007 cohort of IGERT trainees are examining the relationship between Smart Growth policy in Maryland and the proliferation of septic systems in the Baltimore region. The IGERT trainees have developed an interdisciplinary collaboration with PhD. students in the Mathematics and Statistics department at UMBC to develop a spatially explicit, logistical regression model aimed at determining the probability a property in the region will be on a septic versus sewer system. Upon completion, this research will be submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
