Achievement

Students continue to fulfill the Interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Science, which was created to complement the STAIR IGERT. This certificate requires 12 hours of coursework, including 3 hours of STAIR seminar (listed in achievement I) and the STAIRCase class (listed in achievement II). The primary credential with which students emerge from the STAIR program is, of course, their Ph.D. in their specific technical discipline. The purpose of the additional Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Science is to provide a supplementary credential indicating that they have been deeply exposed to the broad environmental, economic and societal issues associated with sustainability.
