Trainees defend interdisciplinary research proposals
Two of our IGERT trainees, Robin Van Meter and Daniel Miles, successfully defended their dissertation proposals and advanced to PhD. candidacy. Ms. Van Meter’s research examines the effects of road salts on stormwater pond ecosystems. Ms. Van Meter’s work has demonstrated attainment of an interdisciplinary perspective by working in complex urban environments where skills in ecology, ecotoxicology and hydrology are relevant. Mr. Miles' research involves implementation of an econometric model to examine the relationship between land use change and water quality. Mr. Miles research is highly interdisciplinary, using economic, ecological and hydrological data and methodologies to examine the impact of urbanization at various scales on water quality.
