Achievement

The MCS IGERT Trainees as a group published 4 refereed journal publications and delivered 29 conference presentations in the last year. Many of the Trainees report journal publications submitted or in progress. Reflecting the breadth of the IGERT Trainees’ backgrounds, the publications in print include modeling efforts applied to a diverse set of applications: turbulent flow in the atmosphere, mechanics of amorphous solids, reinforced concrete topological design, and atomistic calculations. While the applications appear to be very different, these publications all carry the common theme of linking scales in order to model complex physical situations.
