Achievement

The educational experience of our IGERT students continues to be enhanced by our weekly seminar series at the Center for Urban Environmental Research and Education (CUERE). Every Friday during the academic year, a guest speaker from outside UMBC presents his/her research to a group of faculty, students, staff and guests on a topic related to the urban environment. The presentations span a variety of disciplines. (Talk titles and speakers are listed at http://www.umbc.edu/cuere/seminarSeries.html). The audience varies in disciplinary focus and, as result, the discussions generated by the presentations are often interdisciplinary in nature. IGERT students also have the opportunity to have lunch with the seminar speaker each week to gain one-on-one exchanges on varied disciplinary topic areas.
