Achievement

Trainee Eric Trautman led a group of three trainees and one non-trainee PhD student in the construction of a poster that won both the Public and the Community competitions in this year's IGERT poster competition. These trainees used dramatic footage of Trautmann making difficult motor actions to illustrate the complexities of motor control, then illustrated how both experimental neurophysiological investigations and computational modeling work could shed light on the neural mechanisms underlying action planning, as well as how this could aid in the development of neural prostheses to aid those with spinal cord injuries. The poster demonstrated not only the outstanding research of the Shenoy laboratory in which these trainees work but also these trainee's mastery of both story formulation, video recording and editing, and community mobilization to generating interest in their exciting findings.
