Trainees mentor undergraduate student
IGERT trainee Kevin Hatala and Brian Richmond trained an undergraduate student, Heather Dingwall during the course of a study that investigated stature, mass, and speed estimates of extinct hominins who made footprints 1.5 million years ago at Ileret, northwestern Kenya. This study resulted in mentoring experience for trainee Kevin, and valuable research experience for undergraduate student Heather. Due to research and mentoring opportunities provided by IGERT, Heather was lead author on the paper summarizing the findings of this study as an undergraduate. The paper will be published in a 2013 issue of the Journal of Human Evolution, a highly regarded journal within the field of biological anthropology.
