Achievement

A goal of our IGERT to create novel opportunities for students and create an educational environment that would not be possible with a traditional graduate education approach. This past January, the IGERT students completed a course in tropical biology run in Panama by our international partner institution, the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. This course included daily seminars, field trips to different stations throughout Panama, and a hands-on approach of how to conduct field research with genetic and genomic questions in mind.
