Trainees explore interaction of science, technology and government

An important component of the Soft Interfaces IGERT at Syracuse University is civic engagement. In Spring 2013 three of the IGERT trainees took PAI 772 Science, Technology, and Public Policy, taught by Henry Lambright, Professor of Public Administration and Political Science at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. This is a seminar-style course concerned with a variety of concepts on the interaction of science, technology and government. The students enjoyed the course and found the in-class discussions with other graduate students mainly from our Public Administration and International Affairs Programs stimulating and enlightening. The course instructor was also enthusiastic about having ‘real scientists’ in the course. He was very flexible in adapting topics to the IGERT trainees' interests and felt the trainees provided a new prospective to the course. Next year all IGERT trainees will be asked to take this course.
