Poster exhibit showcases fellows' work
On April 2, 2013, the UMass IGERT Offshore Wind Energy Program put on a poster exhibit demonstrating the ongoing and proposed work underway by the IGERT fellows. The fellows presented posters from the engineering, policy and environmental thrusts, with topics ranging from the impacts of offshore wind energy on marine vertebrates, to GIS spatial modeling applications for supporting siting decisions, to development of design standards for offshore installations. The event was attended by the IGERT faculty and students, as well as industry representatives, state officials, and the wider university community.
The session provided an excellent opportunity for the students to share their work among their cohort and advisors, exchange ideas and insight for extending research questions, and make cross-disciplinary connections for future research collaborations. The poster exhibit also allowed students to showcase their research to individuals working on related sustainability issues.
