Assistive Technology Funding and Policy course expanded

The IGERT program helped us expand the “Assistive Technology Funding and Policy” course to include business models and ethical principles, making it a 4-credit course and augmenting our trainees’ knowledge base in this area. Funding and policy in an uncertain economic climate have become increasingly important. Additionally, though ethics are an integral part of courses elsewhere in the curriculum (e.g. Individual and Social Experiences of Disability and Ethical Issues in Healthcare), understanding how to ethically approach the business aspects of assistive technology and the policies that govern them bring along another set of considerations including quality service delivery and prescription of devices.
