Achievement

An interdisciplinary group of five trainees is investigating and quantifying how the concept of ocean change differs across disciplines. After conducting a series of informational interviews with interdisciplinary experts to assess how different disciplines conceive of the concept of ocean change, the group began a literature review to determine how ocean change is being investigated and reported in academic literature. Their research is targeting the top-cited published primary research articles from 2007 to 2012 that address ocean change across a variety of disciplines - e.g., marine mammals, intertidal ecosystems, ocean chemistry, and human dimensions of ocean change. The group is categorizing each article using descriptive metrics such as the geographic region, scale, and temporal resolution of the data. These metrics will allow for comparison of research across disciplines. They are preparing the results of their research for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
