Achievement

The IGERT Seminar course in Fall 2012 "From Data to Solutions" helped the students learn about the types of areas that are in need for computational solutions as well as problems that come with big data sets, such as the importance of understanding the context of how data was collected, and solutions to these problems, such as using statistical techniques to account for biases. Since the class was very diverse and contained students from a variety of disciplines, students also gained skills to present what was heavily based on computer vision techniques to an audience who may not be familiar with the technological jargon through constant class presentation activities.
