Achievement

IGERT students Stacy Blasiola, Department of Communications and Hendher Pedroza, Department of Computer Science, developed a framework for studying user perception related to Facebook privacy policies. Preliminary findings show that users are often unaware of how third party applications gain access to the data in their “friends” network. The students developed a Facebook app and several surveys to conduct these studies of this phenomena. Since the study involves human subjects, they have submitted their proposal for approval by the IRB (Institutional Review Board) at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
