Achievement

IGERT students were given the unique opportunity to meet with representatives of various university organizations in workshop settings. The Director of Education Training, Office of the Vice Chancellor of Research, led discussions of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process emphasizing the need to ensure that risks have been minimized and the potential for benefit has been maximized before human subjects participate in research. The need for informed consent by research participants was also highlighted. Thinking forward to graduation of fellows, the IGERT program invited representatives of The Office of Career Services to work with students to develop effective cover letters, resumes and to develop their interviewing skills.
