Wearable technologies for neurorehabilitation of stroke survivors

Eric L. Luster, an IGERT trainee and PhD student in Computer Science at ASU, is investigating person-centered wearable technologies for neurorehabilitation of stroke survivors who have limited motor function. In this period, Eric’s paper, “Vibrotactile cueing using wearable computers for overcoming learned non-use in chronic stroke,” was accepted to REHAB 2013, a workshop held in conjunction with the 7th International Conference on Pervasive Computing Technologies for Healthcare. Eric applied for and was awarded the ASU GPSA Jumpstart Research Grant to partially support this work. Eric also received the VEX Robotics volunteer of the year award for his contributions as director of the Arizona state championship. Eric also presented his poster on detecting and reporting traumatic brain injury in student athletes at the sixth annual Clinton Global Initiative University. Following this event, Eric was invited to make an appearance on The Colbert Report, which aired Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
