Achievement

IGERT Trainees and Associates and faculty member Dr. John Brett successfully created and held a graduate level professional seminar on Urban Food Systems in Spring 2009 semester. Course goals were to identify theoretical tools for analyzing food infrastructure systems, develop a contextual understanding of the processes and factors creating and maintaining our current food systems, and create a context for assessing and evaluating the existing metrics of sustainable food systems. Students from engineering, health and behavioral sciences, anthropology and architecture and planning participated. Dr. Brett and IGERT Trainee Corrine Knapp have been given a grant from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Colorado Denver to develop a similar course to be offered at the undergraduate level. Course evaluations are pending as they are completed at the end of the semester.
