Achievement

Initiated a Sustainability Seminar Series that has brought in a variety of speakers to discuss their research initiatives and professional endeavors. The purpose of the seminar series is to enhance student and faculty knowledge in the areas of sustainable urban infrastructure and invoke thought and discussion. The series featured internal faculty working in the area of sustainable infrastructure, outside speakers working as professionals or academics within the field, and presentations from the thematic research groups that have formed out of our IGERT program. A survey of students has shown that most students feel the seminars have been important in helping to achieve their goals within their discipline and the IGERT Program. Some have noted that the series has been especially helpful in framing the issue of urban sustainability and defining urban infrastructure.
