Trainee co-authors seminar presentation
Beckman Coulter, Inc. invited IGERT Associate, Marty Kolewe, to co-author a seminar presentation at a presigious workshop entitled The Coulter Principle: Foundations and Advanced Applications, at Harvard Medical School in October, 2008. ICE IGERT funded the purchase of a Multisizer 3 (a Coulter counter, based on electrical sensing zone technology). Using this equipment, Kolewe developed a novel method to measure plant cell aggregate size distributions, which quickly attracted attention in the research community. Not only was this a new application for this instrument, it directly addressed the absence of a fast, accurate, and reliable method for measuring this property of plant cell cultures, a critical parameter related to pharmaceutical production.
