Multiunit recording in rat barrel cortex
Erdrin Azemi is a BioEngineering student at the University of Pittsburgh whose IGERT funding has given her the opportunity to learn multiunit recording in rat barrel cortex using a 16-channel floating microelectrode array. Azemi’s regular research concerns the development of neural probes suitable for long-term recording, by modifying the probes with substances that reduce inflammatory tissue response. Her IGERT work has given her a broader picture of the problem by allowing her to experience firsthand how these devices are used in actual recording experiments.
