Indigenous studies of climate change
National Participation in Indigenous Studies of Climate Change. La'ona DeWilde, an Alaska Native student, has been active in addressing climate-change impacts on indigenous people through invited participation in national conferences focused on indigenous peoples. In a conference aimed at developing an indigenous-peoples climate change research and education program, she described the climate change impacts that she and her family experienced growing up in rural Alaska. In a National meeting of Chicano and Native American Scientists (SACNAS), she presented similar results and described how her research as an IGERT trainee helps lay the groundwork for strategies to adapt to and mitigate climate change and pollution.
