Removing strontium from groundwater

Trainee Shannon Seneca participated in an extended research visit at the University of Waterloo, through the ERIE-IGERT international supplement. During this time she conducted laboratory studies to characterize the performance of natural zeolites materials for removing strontium (a surrogate for radioactive strontium-90) from groundwater, under the supervision of internationally recognized scholars in contaminant hydrology. She will present her findings at the American Geophysical Union 2009 Spring Meeting, to be held in Toronto Canada.
