Photo-catalytic production of hydrogen

IGERT Fellow, Nick Hight-Huf, reports on his research on the photo-catalytic production of hydrogen: I have developed a gas sampling method, using newly acquired equipment, capable of detecting very small amounts of hydrogen. This research is in collaboration with a graduate student and a post-doc from the lab of Dr. Galen Stucky at UCSB. In addition, I have optimized nanoparticle nucleation and growth by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis (USP) - CuOx and FeOx. Also, I have developed, in collaboration Dr. Galen Stucky’s lab, a combinatorial method to test photoelectrocatalytic properties of nanoparticle (NP) catalysts. Finally, I have investigated catalytic properties of USP-grown and other NP’s using aforementioned method.
