Applications of phytochrome alleles
Faculty trainer Clark Lagarias and trainee Tim Butterfield have developed a working relationship with Jos van Boxtel of Arcadia Biosciences, who is participating in the application of their constitutive phytochrome alleles as both visual and selectable transformation markers, along with scientists from PIPRA. Their work has begun to progress towards translational applications of relevance to biotechnology and agriculture. This interdisciplinary research interaction was made possible through networking opportunities at the CREATE-IGERT Symposium in October 2008.
