4-day Microfabrication Workshop
The students participated in a 4-day Microfabrication Workshop during summer 2009. The purpose of the workshop was to introduce the trainees to important electronic materials fabrication techniques and their applications to biological devices structures such as sensors, drug deliver systems and host matrix platforms. The goal of the workshop was to provide the trainees with fundamental knowledge and practical experience that could be applied to their research areas. The workshop included both lecture and laboratory components so that the students became familiar with the equipment available in the Microfabrication Facility. The trainees found the workshop beneficial but commented that too much information had to be covered in a short time. Therefore, we have eliminated the workshop and future trainees will take a 1 hour Microfabrication course during the semester.
