Achievement

Chris Schalk is completing his first four months of field work in the Bolivian Chaco. Chris is studying the scaling of ecological functions in the Chaco landscape. Specifically, he studies competition and predation in a frog community and asking how these local mechanisms scale up to the landscape level to influence the regional pattern of frog diversity. He is working closely with Isoso indigenous parabiologists and professional biologists with the Wildlife Conservation Society and the Noel Kempff Natural History Museum. Chris has submitted papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals and he will be attending the national IGERT meeting in 2009.
