Achievement

The First Workshop on Media Arts, Sciences, and Technology (MAST) held at UCSB in January 2009 was a significant education achievement for our program. Not only did the workshop act as a capstone showcase for our research, it gave our trainees and other graduate students in fields of digital media research an opportunity to talk shop with media artists and engineers from other institutions. The workshop was coordinated with the IGERT program in Arts & Engineering at the Arizona State University, and through provided an opportunity for the two IGERT groups to interact and exchange ideas. Also, the event drew keynote speakers from top positions in academia and industry. Hosting the workshop at our own university allowed many of our IGERT participants to experience the various processes of running an event. Due to the success of MAST, we are expecting other institutions to host the workshop in subsequent years. http://mast.mat.ucsb.edu
