Achievement

The CIIP trainees developed and ran a workshop (June 2008) on the impacts of climate change to coastal communities in RI. Over 200 citizens and decision-makers attended the day-long events. The trainees prepared poster presentations of their research on the topic, managed workshop logistics, and conference assessment. The conference received excellent press coverage. One of the significant lessons all trainees learned was hosting conferences is a significant undertaking and requires much more work and attention to planning detail than trainees anticipated. They also observed just how hungry the public is for comprehensible and relevant scientific research.
