Role of surface roughness at interfaces of solar cells
Modeling research to understand the role of surface roughness at interfaces of thin film solar cells was initiated through collaboration between Professor Mark Lundstrom in Electrical Engineering and Professors Agrawal and Hillhouse in Chemical Engineering at Purdue University. The SEIGERT Associate Jim Moore in Electrical Engineering is creating models in close collaboration with other Chemical Engineering and Material Science Associates who are preparing solar cells. In the true spirit of IGERT, modeler Jim Moore is also spending some of his time in the lab performing measurements and doing characterizations needed for parameter estimates in model equations. Such interactions are yielding unique models and we expect some novel insights in the next few months.
