UD Energy and Sustainability Conference 2011
Description:
The 5th annual Energy & Sustainability Conference, brought to you by the Solar Hydrogen IGERT and the University of Delaware Energy Institute at the University of Delaware will be held September 15-17, 2011 in Newark, Delaware.
The registration to this conference is free and a free live stream of this year’s conference will also be broadcasted here on IGERT.org. Visit www.igert.org starting on September 15 and click /public/conference.html/energy-confe...!
In the spirit of the NSF-IGERT program, this conference is a truly interdisciplinary experience, designed to broaden our thinking about Energy & Sustainability, and foster conversations that will lead to a brighter – and more sustainable – future.
We begin the conference on Thursday, September 15th with a more technical view of energy, including energy research, use, and production. Thursday evening’s opening ceremony broadens this view, preparing the conference to leap into other ways to think about energy and sustainability, with a magical concert produced, directed, and performed by violinist Xiang Gao. The concert will explore sustainability through music, so that we do not simply think about the issue – we experience it.
Friday, September 16th moves from the technical side of energy to a discussion of energy and climate change policy, business practices, horticulture, and fashion.
Saturday, September 17th is a day that focuses on the community – where issues of energy and sustainability culminate in how we live with these issues. Highlighting this day will be a series of hands-on workshops – a chance for conference-goers to fully engage in the topics for discussion.
