Symposium: GMO Governance in the U.S. - April 27. Registration open

The ISG-IGERT Symposium, “Re-examining US GMO Governance: Continuing Tensions and Contemporary Conflicts” will be held on Friday, April 27, at the University of Minnesota.

Speakers include: Professors Sheila Jasanoff (Harvard Kennedy School), Rebecca Bratspies (CUNY School of Law), and Leland Glenna (Penn State). Please email igertsymposium@gmail.com for presentation details and an agenda.

Each presentation will be followed by a panel discussion. Confirmed discussants include Greg Jaffe (Center for Science in the Public Interest), Prof. David Andow (U of MN, Dept. of Entomology), Prof. Nicholas Jordan (U of MN, Dept. of Agronomy & Plant Genetics), Prof. Jennifer Kuzma (U of MN, Humphrey School of Public Affairs), and Esther McGinnis (U of MN, Dept. of Horticultural Science).

The symposium will conclude with a discussion by members of the Collaborative Wild Rice Committee (Joseph LaGarde (White Earth Reservation), Prof. Emeritus Paul Bloom (U of MN, Dept. of Soil, Water & Climate), and Prof. Craig Hassel (U of MN, Dept. of Food Science &Nutrition)) on the Committee’s experiences working on issues surrounding wild rice and genetic engineering in Minnesota.
