A2C2 IGERT Professional Development Workshop

On January 17, the A2C2 IGERT at the University of Maine held a professional development workshop entitled “Where Are They Now? Recent IGERT Graduates in the Workplace”. The highlight of the workshop was a panel discussion featuring recent NSF IGERT program graduates currently working in positions in government, NGOs, and academia. The featured panelists were:
Dr. Abigail Walker Anthony – Rhode Island Director of Environment Northeast and graduate of the Assessing Change in Coastal Ecosystems IGERT at the University of Rhode Island.
Dr. Kevin Rose – AAAS Fellow in the Directorate of Geosciences and a graduate of the Environmental Aquatic Resource Sensing (EARS) IGERT at Miami University.
Dr. Caroline Gottschalk Druschke – Assistant Professor of Writing and Rhetoric at the University of Rhode Island and a graduate of the Landscape, Ecological, and Anthropogenic Processes (LEAP) IGERT at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The featured panelists shared stories and experiences from their time as IGERT trainees, discussed the unique value of interdisciplinary graduate training programs like IGERT, and described internship experiences that they had during their graduate training. Thanks to the panelists for their generous contributions of time and enthusiasm.
