Google Earth's impact on education
Christine Erlien (IGERT alumna; 2008 PhD, UNC-CH Geography) brings IGERT skills to the Duke University classroom. As a Lecturing Fellow in Duke University's Thompson Writing Program, Erlien offers a writing course entitled, The View from Above: Google Earth's Impact. Erlien created a blog and website for the class, focused on sharing knowledge of how Google Earth can, and is, impacting education. The website's goal is to provide information for educators at all levels who would like to learn more about how to use Google Earth in the classroom by providing background information on many of the layers included in Google Earth; actual lesson plans developed by teachers at the primary, secondary, and university levels; a reference list of publications concerned with the use of Google Earth in education; and ideas from students about how Google Earth might be used in courses. http://blogs-dev.oit.duke.edu/tlge/about/ http://cit.duke.edu/blog/category/images/
