CPC trainees receive external funding
In a very competitive environment for external funding, CPC IGERT trainees were successful with their applications for fellowships, dissertation completion awards, and fieldwork support.
Timothy Baird (Geography) received multiple sources (Fulbright Hays, AAG Dissertation Research Grant, & a UNC Graduate School Interdisciplinary Research Fellowship) of support to conduct dissertation fieldwork in Tanzania for the period January-December 2010. Margaret Carrel (Geography) is currently supported by an NSF GRFP award. Kim Engie (Geography) and Jennifer Winston (Geography) were supported by extremely competitive UNC-CH Graduate School fellowships during 2009-10.
