Achievement

In a very competitive environment for external funding, CPC IGERT trainees were successful with their applications for fellowships, dissertation completion awards, and fieldwork support. Timothy Baird (Geography) received multiple sources (Fulbright Hays, AAG Dissertation Research Grant, & a UNC Graduate School Interdisciplinary Research Fellowship) of support to conduct dissertation fieldwork in Tanzania for the period January-December 2010.

Brian Miller (Ecology) also received multiple sources (NSF DDRI, and UNC Graduate School dissertation Completion Award) of support to conduct dissertation fieldwork in Tanzania for the period March - November 2011.

Amy McCleary (Geography) received a UNC Graduate School dissertation Completion Award and P.E.O. scholar award in support of her dissertation research during AY 2010-11.
