'Climates and Borders' course
The IGERT course, "Climates and Borders," was designed around a central research focus on the life and habitat of Monarch butterflies. As a direct result of research conducted in the class, the group, led by lead professor Town Peterson, authored and submitted for publication their findings in a paper titled, "Climate-change causation of mass mortality events in overwintering monarch butterflies." Authors of the paper included IGERT trainees from the bio, geo, and social sciences as well as engineering and is an example of the potential of interdisciplinary research.
