Trainee Kaipo Perez has been awarded numerous prestigious awards for his interdisciplinary dissertation research: Mellon-Hawaii Foundation Fellowship (Fall 2012- Spring 2013), Native American Professional Development Grant (Fall 2011), STARR Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship Fund (Fall 2011-Spring 2012), Carol Ann and Myron K. Hayashida Scholarship (Fall 2012), and a Carol Ann and Myron K. Hayashida Scholarship (Spring 2011).
