Collaboration broadens participation in STEM disciplines
During the summer of 2011 5 IGERT Trainees and 11 Haskell University, University of Hawaii, Hilo, and Dine College undergraduate Interns participated in the Haskell Indian Nations University Summer Internship Program, Climate Change in Indigenous Communities. Each Trainee partnered with Haskell undergrads on Interns' research projects. The summer program continues throughout the academic year. Haskell undergrads have presented research posters in several professional meetings across the country.
Since beginning the Haskell Summer Internship program in 2009, 17 IGERT Trainees and Associates, and 24 Haskell undergraduate Interns have participated.
