CPC IGERT trainees receive external funding
In a very competitive environment for external funding, CPC IGERT trainees were successful with their applications for fellowships, dissertation completion awards, and fieldwork support.
Elisabeth Root (08-09) and Tim Baird (May 2009) received NSF DDRI awards. Margaret Carrel is currently supported by an NSF GRFP award. Tim Baird received a Fulbright-Hays Fellowship to conduct dissertation fieldwork in Tanzania. Kim Engie will be supported by a UNC-CH fellowship during 09-10 (awarded during 08-09). Sophia Giebultowicz received a UNC-CH "Graduate Mentor Support Grant" to work with an undergraduate in Malawi (May 2009).
