Achievement

Trainees Josh Julian and Alex Keinath did a course project on gist extraction from images for an IGERT foundational course on Experimental Methods in Perception. This produced pilot data suggesting that spatial phase information is more important than spatial power spectrum information for gist extraction, contrary to some theories in the current literature. These two trainees, along with IGERT faculty Brainard and Epstein, are now collaborating to pursue this topic.
