Drought occurrences in Kansas over last 1000 years

IGERT Trainee Anthony Layzell (Geography) prepared a report commissioned by the Kansas Water Office entitled, "A thousand years of drought and climatic variability in Kansas: Implications for water resources management." The report was an investigation of past drought occurrences from paleoclimate records over the last 1000 years. It focused on Palmer Drought Severity Index (PDSI) reconstructions calculated from annual tree-ring chronologies. Trainee Layzell has presented his findings at four conferences during this reporting period including at the Governor's Conference on the Future of Water in Kansas.
