Climatic variability and agricultural policy
IGERT Associate Linda Williams presented a paper entitled, ‘US Agricultural Policy and Climate Variability in the Soviet Union in the 1970s: Drought, Policy and Earl Butz,’ at the 2009 Annual University of Kansas Graduate Research Competition. Her paper explores the effects of climatic variability on agricultural policy and how the interaction among climatic events, agricultural production, and US international grain sale decisions of 1972-1973 produced long-term impacts on US farm policy.
